xilasCorporate Overview

Xilas has focused on the development of medical device products for people suffering with diabetes and susceptible to foot related problems. The products are innovative. We have listened to doctors and patients during clinical trials, studied past healing techniques and biomechanics, and learned from the top medical experts in the world. We have discovered innovations that make our products easier to use and meet the needs of podiatrists and their diabetic patients. Medicare reimbursement codes are already established and in place for four of our six products.

Xilas is a dynamic, privately-held medical device company based in San Antonio, Texas. We have developed products that address the three key areas for the diabetic patient’s feet: friction reduction, neuropathy or nerve damage assessment, and temperature measurement. Max Burn Our six products have been developed internally and have been or are in the process of being tested and verified through clinical studies funded by the National Institutes of Health. Future pipeline products may be in the field of biodegradable systems to slowly deliver antibiotics at ulcer/wound sites.

Xilas Medical – Corporate History

Xilas was founded in 1997 by six guys that met through the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, Texas. HGH These guys looked into their collective crystal balls and saw an unmet need in the area of medical products to help predict and alleviate the suffering that people with the disease of diabetes can experience with their feet. Not only did they see the suffering, they saw the growing numbers of new people diagnosed each year with diabetes as well as the more frequent occurrence at younger ages. During this time, one of the founders lost a family member due to complications that began with foot ulcers and proceeded to right to bare legs infection, amputation and ultimately death.

The team had first-hand ideas of what the products should do and pooled their money to develop and build the prototypes and file for patents. They used government grants to fund clinical trails with over 800 patients, many suffering with diabetes. Along the way, the founding team attracted the interest of some of the top experts in the world in the area of the diabetic foot. Those individuals became technical advisors to Xilas, which led to further enhancement of the products. Now, in 2003, the company is embarking on the next phase of the founder’s vision – introduction into the market and full commercialization. Patents have been issued, manufacturing processes have been developed and implemented, selling cycles have begun, Magic Mesh and the management team has been enhanced. Now the fun begins.

Xilas Medical – Investor Relations

Xilas is a dynamic, privately held medical device company based in San Antonio, Texas. Since its inception in 1997, the company has leveraged an initial $150,000 investment from its founders to develop and patent six products aimed at the diabetic foot market. The company then successfully applied for seven SBIR grants totaling $2.7 million from the U. S. government to conduct clinical trials and verify the efficacy of the products. The company is currently in the process of raising an initial private equity funding to be used to rollout its first product offerings.

The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that currently there are 16 million diabetics in the U.S., 54 million in the developed countries including Europe, and 154 million worldwide. The incidence of diabetes is increasing at a dramatic rate and the WHO projects that by the year 2025 there will be over 300 million worldwide. The direct medical cost of diabetes in the U.S. alone climbed from $44 billion in 1997 to $59 billion in 2002- a 6% CAGR. Plus for every $1 that is spent on direct medical costs, the WHO estimates that an additional $1.25 is spent on indirect costs due to lost productivity. Lower extremity amputations in the U. S. of people with diabetes, which averaged 54,000 per year in the early part of the 90′s, increased to nearly 90,000 per year as we crossed into 2000. Today there are approximately 120,000 amputations performed in the U. S. each and it is estimated that in some regions up to 83% of these lower extremity amputations are in persons with diabetes.

clinical trialsXilas Medical, Inc. today announced the results of its Phase II clinical trials designed to evaluate the effectiveness of its TempTouch( home infrared temperature probe to reduce the incidence of diabetic foot ulcers among high-risk patients. The trial, sponsored by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) through a Small Business Innovation Research grant, resulted in a significant reduction in the frequency of ulceration in people with diabetes who are neuropathic and have a prior history of foot ulcers. Patients utilizing the TempTouch( device were able to identify potential foot problems at an early stage and take corrective action with their physician to avoid devastating foot problems. The key result of this trial was that the level of ulceration was 4% for those using the TempTouch( versus 30% for those patients who did not use the device. The trial also proved that patients were willing and able to use the TempTouch in a home setting and thus actively participate in the management of his or her chronic condition.

“The results were very compelling,” stated Dr. Larry Lavery, medical consultant and co-founder of Xilas Medical, Inc. “People with diabetes that are high-risk, meaning that they have neuropathy and previous ulceration, are very likely to have follow-on foot problems. It is not unusual for these problems to require radical surgical procedures if gangrene and infection persists, as evidenced by the 90,000 amputations that took place in 2002 in the United States alone.”

“The use of the TempTouch( device in a home setting provided the individuals with a way to participate in their own care and prevention by taking corrective action before the problem spiraled beyond control. People affected by diabetes have very few tools to compensate for the loss of the ability to feel pain in their lower extremities. I like to say that the use of this device serves the purpose of reattaching the leg to the body.”

Xilas Medical, Inc., (www.xilas.com) based in San Antonio, Texas, has developed and is now commercializing a family of clinically tested, proprietary medical device products for the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of foot-related medical problems, especially those pertaining to people suffering from diabetes. The Company has six products that address the three key areas of foot management for the diabetic patient: temperature measurement, neuropathy or nerve damage assessment, and friction reduction. To date, the Company has received $2.7 million from the National Institutes of Health for product testing and clinical trials and is currently involved in securing its first private equity funding. Xilas has received five patents on its products and has one 510(k) approval pending from the Food and Drug Administration.

Argan OilThere has been a substantial upsurge in the recognition of oil hair remedies in the past year or so. Argan Oil or hot oil remedies have in essence been the hair items quite a lot of have in easy terms been reaching to when their hair is in want of quite quite a few tender loving care.

What is argan oil? Argan Oil, as indicated by the brand name, is one of the most well known brands of oils for hair which originates from Morocco. The actual oil is extracted from the kernels of the tree of the same name. The Argan tree from which the oil is extracted from is discovered only in the south west of Morocco. Reports have stated that loads of Moroccans themselves have never heard of it. The Argan tree is perfectly adapted to grow & grow in dry harsh & unforgiving climates & demand no cultivation whatsoever. Maybe as a result of surviving in such conditions Argan oil is incredible for introducing moisture into dry brittle parched hair. It could be used on wet or dry hair as a styling product or finishing oil.

All Argan Oil sold in the world is part of a cooperative which supports girls plus a percentage of all of the profits made in the sale of argan oil goes back to benefit those girls which help & work to supply it. It does show up quite a magical product, from its exotic roots to the uncountable wondrous uses it might be put toward. Countless folks have questioned irrespective of whether it is a miracle product.

Argan Oil is one of the most exclusive and rarest oils to deliver on account of the uniqueness of the singular location it’s grown & harvested.

1 such species who does take an active interest in the Argan tree is goats, who clamber along it’s knarled & twisted trunk to graze in the leaves & fruits despites its thorny outer. The Argan fruit, which the goats feed on, looks not dissimilar to a slightly bigger olive with a shiny green soft exterior inside which may be a variety of nuts or the kernels from where the sought after oil is extracted.

The oil may be used in the production of food. It is used in particular pastes, drizzled over salads and used in place of the more recognized olive oil to dip bread in. As I mentioned previously in this piece of content it now has predominantly been taken over by the cosmetics sector. It has substantially moisturising organic properties, such as vitamin E and phenolic acid.

Following on from its similarity to the olive the Argan tree kernels needless to share are processed to extract oil like the world renowned olive oil. The differences between the 2 are that the Argan oil has a red tinge to it which can also be used for cooking. Right now you may find Argan oil underneath distinct brand names such as Moroccan Oil which is widely available in high street shops and certain specialised hair stock providers.

U2 singer Bono was already an obscenely wealthy man before Friday’s (May 18) Facebook IPO?. But thanks to the 2.3 percent stake in the social networking site held by his Elevation Partners investment group (it is unknown how much of the Facebook take is directly held by Bono) it was reported that his nest egg could grow exponentially when Friday’s first day of trading on the company’s stock is over. The total haul? More than $1.5 billion?, which is not bad for a day’s work.

If those figures are true, he may become the richest rock star on Earth, sitting on a massive pile of green that could allow a man who already had the world at his fingertips to push into a rarified stratosphere that’s the envy of the many one-percenters he already counts as friends. According to Rolling Stone the singer, who cannot sell all his shares at once, has pledged to use much of the money raised from his investments to aid charity work in Africa.

Bono addressed the rumors of his (alleged) impending money bomb while speaking to MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell on Friday morning. “Contrary to reports, I’m not a billionaire or going to be richer than any Beatle — and not just in the sense of money, by the way; the Beatles are untouchable — those billionaire reports are a joke,” he said. “In Elevation, we invest other people’s money — endowments, pension funds. We do get paid, of course. But, you know, I felt rich when I was 20 years old and my wife was paying my bills. Just being in a band, I’ve always felt blessed. I got interested in technology because I’m an artist, I’m interested in the forces that shape the world, politics, religion, the stuff we’ve been talking about today. Technology is huge, I wanted to learn about it. People might say that’s odd, but I think it’s odd if artists aren’t interested in the world around them. I’m always chasing that. Facebook are an amazing team, a brilliant team. It’s a technology that brings people together.”

But if one person were to obtain that windfall, what could $1.5 billion buy you? We broke it down, by-the-numbers:

6.9 million Famous for his signature Bulgari shades, if Bono were to get his hands on the full stash, he could hit the Amazon.com marketplace and get nearly seven million pair for cheap at $215.77 a piece.

12.5 The giant claw stage that U2 schlepped around the world for their record-setting 360 Tour was insanely expensive. With each of the three structures they built coming in at $40 million a piece, Bono could build nine more with the Facebook loot.

300,000 Speaking U2 tours, on their famous 1992 Zoo TV outing, one of the highlights were the blinged-out Trabant cars that were hung from the lighting rigs. The famously low-budget East German cars were never expensive, but if Bono were ever thinking of expanding his car collection, he could snatch up more than 300,000 1989 models for the money.

39.4 million: In the recent documentary, “From the Sky Down,” U2 basically admitted that they’d gotten a bit full of themselves by the time their 1988 ode to Americana, Rattle and Hum, was released. If Bono is feeling especially embarrassed about all the cowboy hats and blues discovery of that era, he could try to wipe out some trace of it by buying nearly 40 million Blu-Ray copies of the DVD from Amazon.

Lady Gaga turned 26 years young on Wednesday (March 28), and to help celebrate, MTV News drew up a handy A-to-Z guide touching on some of the most exciting things to come from Mother Monster. Read on and share your birthday wishes for the pop princess!

A: April 27. On that day, Gaga will launch what’s sure to be one of the year’s most spectacular spectacles at the Olympic Stadium in Seoul, Korea, which brings us to …

B:Born This Way Ball! We were there when Gaga announced the name of the tour in Atlantic City, New Jersey, last year, and it has been hinted that we can expect an “electro pop opera.” She had us at “opera.”

C: Castle. Mother Monster tweeted an image of the stage design for the tour, and the elaborate gothic castle has us excited.

D: “Dark.” Gaga’s former creative director, Laurieann Gibson, opened up just last week about why she parted ways with the pop star, telling “ET Canada” that Gaga’s ideas “got a little dark for me creatively.”

E: Elton John. The godmother to John’s adopted son, Gaga has teased a duet with the “Rocket Man” singer for her next album.

F: Fernando Garibay. The musical director behind Born This Way told MTV News that the new album already has a title and concept.

G: Gothic. Veils, brooches and lots of black: Gaga has adopted a gothic theme for her tour, but also in her fashion choices.

H: “Heavy Metal Lover.” This jam has been begging for radio play; at the very least, the BTW cut should make it to the tour set list.

I: Inez & Vinoodh. The Dutch photography duo were heavily involved in the spectacle surrounding Gaga’s “Yoü and I” video, crafting awesome fashion clips after the official music video.

J: Joanne. Lady Gaga’s parents recently opened this Italian trattoria, named for Gaga’s late aunt, on New York City’s Upper West Side.

K: Kinney, as in Taylor Kinney. The beautiful man who played Gaga’s love interest in the “Yoü and I” video is rumored to be her real-life love interest too.

L: Luc Carl. Gaga must still be on good terms with her ex-BF, because she recently tweeted a shout-out to him when he published his new book, “The Drunk Diet.”

M: Monster Pit. The special enclosed space within the Born This Way Ball stage where lucky Monsters who line up for hours, even days, before the show will be able to take in the concerts.

N: Nicola Formichetti. The singer’s new creative director will be her co-HBIC for the foreseeable future.

O: Oprah. The talk-show queen is Gaga’s new BFF, pretty much. She even tapped the OWN network boss to interview her not long after they launched Gaga’s anti-bullying-focused Born This Way Foundation together.

P: Piano. One of the best parts of the Monster Ball was when Gaga would slow things down, chatting with the crowd and showing off her raw talent at the piano.

Q: Quinceañera. Gaga’s one-word Twitter response to a Little Monster who asked how she would celebrate her 26th birthday this year, never mind that it’s the kind of party reserved for 15-year-olds. They grow up so fast.

R: Red Wine. Widely known to be Mother Monster’s alcoholic beverage of choice, alongside whiskey and beer.

S: “Stuck on F—in’ You.” This unreleased and unedited track was leaked by Gaga herself as a Christmas gift to her Little Monsters. She recorded the naughty song on her tour bus last go-round. Can we get another?

T: Tea. Gaga’s non-alcoholic beverage of choice, about which she recently tweeted a lesson she learned: #KettlesAreForTeaNotFashion.

U: Unicorns. The mythical creatures may not exist, but Gaga swoons for them, and why not? Fantasy is as important to her as reality.

V: Video Music Awards. Is it too early to begin the campaign for her to blow our minds again at the 2012 VMAs? We’d even settle for Jo Calderone again.

W: Wigs. Her supply is never-ending and will likely continue to fascinate us right on through her 26th year.

X: “Lady Gaga X Terry Richardson.” Amazing photo book. Seriously, check it out.

Y: Yuyi. Will the mermaid join Gaga on tour this year? As long as the tour bus is sea-creature-friendly.

Z: Z100 Jingle Ball. In December, Gaga performed a short-but-captivating set at New York City’s Madison Square Garden that gave us a peek at what’s to come on the Born This Way Ball.

So the summer movie season is officially in full swing, with all kinds of big blockbusters hitting theaters each and every week, offering up action-packed experiences of the highest cinematic quality and the best visual effects studio money can buy. And no matter how impressive the 3D or digital technology, there’s only so much you can experience from your seat in a crowded movie theater.

For those of you thrill-seekers out there who are looking for a little extra bang for your buck and willing to take a trip to the west coast, Universal Studios has taken the best elements of the fancy cinematic 3D technology and incorporated it into their latest, cutting-edge attraction with “Transformers The Ride 3D.” Think “Star Tours” but with amped-up, in-your-face-battle-action involving Optimus Prime, Megatron and trusty Bumblebee.

MTV News was lucky enough to snag an invite to come check out the ride just before it opened to the public. Here’s a rundown of what to expect:

The ride is built around several aspects that will be familiar to fans of the film franchise. As you enter the ride space you are swept up in joining a tactical effort to stop Megatron and the Decepticons from mounting an attack and getting control of the AllSpark. As soon as passengers are belted into their EVAC vehicles, the real fun begins and you are literally thrown into the middle of a robot battle. The individual passenger cars weave in and out of the story, with stylized 3D projections in front of you that make it seem as though you’re part of the fight. The actual movement of the cars includes major twists and turns, as well as huge butterfly-inducing drops that simulate the cars flying through the air and dangling from Transformers’ finger tips. Not to mention the characters literally get in your face via the projections and 3D glasses.

In collaboration with Industrial Light & Magic, Universal created a ride with high definition 3D media that brings every metallic feature of your favorites to life. The ride also uses advanced flight simulation technology. Every move in battle sends you whipping through air, crashing into buildings, flipping your sense of reality. It truly is a multi-sensory, adrenaline-jolting experience.

During our disembarkation, one of our colleagues pointed out that the 3D rides are likely a glimpse into the future of what movie-going might become: highly-technical, multimedia and multi-sensory extravaganzas. We can definitely see the value in transforming (no pun intended) more popular film franchises into theme park rides, particularly when Universal has produced such a fun alternative to the “Transformers” movies with its entertaining and satisfying new attraction.

As expected, Justin Bieber’s new single “Boyfriend” has made an impressive debut. After dropping last Monday, the song has sold 520,000 downloads in its first week.

The number is particularly meaningful since it places him at #2 in all-time first-week singles sales. Flo Rida’s track “Right Round,” featuring a then up-and-coming Ke$ha, has the Biebs beat, according to Hits Daily Double. Flo’s track sits at #1 with 636,000 units moved. Other big sellers include the Black Eyed Peas’ “Boom Boom Pow” with 465,000 in downloads (#3), and Mother Monster herself, Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” selling 447,000 (#4).

Not only are fans gobbling up the single, but his real-life girlfriend, Selena Gomez, has given the song two thumbs up. “Is it my ring tone? No. I didn’t even know you could make it a ring tone,” Gomez told E! News. “It is a great song.”

Bieber is hardly resting on his laurels. The teen star is back in the studio working on Believe. He explained on Twitter that the album, for which “Boyfriend” is the lead single, will go there. “Here making music addressing the past and the rumors, clearing it all up in the music. Im putting it all out there on this album. #BELIEVE,” he tweeted.

He also tweeted out silly videos of himself acting goofy on mock-up sets of the “Boyfriend” video, which he shot last week. In one, he stands in front of a green screen of icy land and in another he stands in front of a green screen of a fireplace.

Of course, Bieber already shared that there really will be fire and ice in the video. “The concept of this video, I mean it’s not like a steady concept,” he explained to MTV News on the Cali-based set in between shots. “It’s not like ‘Justin follows this girl to this spot.’ No, it’s a bunch of amazing scenes: Like a fire scene, we have an ice scene.

“It’s kind of like bouncing back and forth,” he said. “And then there’s scenes of me and just a bunch of girl dancers, and just some great shots, great artistic shots, great shots of me smiling. It’s fun.”

Lady Gaga kicked off her hotly awaited Born This Way Ball at Seoul, South Korea’s Olympic Stadium on Friday (April 27) in front of 45,000 fans, and despite protests from Christian groups saying Mother Monster was “obscene” and could “taint” young people with her performance, the concert appears to have gone on without incident.

Intrepid Twitter fans are already showing off pictures and video of the BTW Ball’s enormous Gothic castle backdrop and myriad costume changes, making it clear that Gaga has outdone even her own Monster Ball in terms of spectacle.

While we wait for reviews to trickle in from halfway around the world, one thing is certain: No minors were corrupted at the show. Earlier this month, the Korea Media Rating Board decided to elevate the age rating for the concert from 12 to 18, prohibiting minors from seeing the concert. When the board notified Gaga’s tour promotion company and a sponsor of the change in age restrictions, it did not offer a reason why the show ? which at the time was still in rehearsals and had not been reviewed publicly ? was considered unsuitable for children under 18.

The likely catalyst for the board’s decision came more into focus as the concert neared and protests from a group of conservative Christians calling itself the Alliance for Sound Culture in Sexuality ramped up. The group covered Seoul with posters accusing Gaga of “spreading unhealthy sexual culture” through “lewd lyrics and performances.”

The superstar and her fans, however, were undeterred. Though she tweeted her hopes that the Korea Media Rating Board would reverse its decision (it didn’t), she continued on as planned. Many fans reportedly arrived at the show wearing versions of Gaga’s most well-known flamboyant costumes, and there have been no reports of disturbances at the concert.

Before the show, Gaga tweeted, “I can you hear you Korea. I’m shaking.”

Gaga’s performance was heavy on material from her Born this Way album, though her biggest hits, including “Bad Romance,” Poker Face” and “Just Dance,” were represented.

Lady Gaga’s Born This Way Ball set list:

» “Highway Unicorn”
» “Government Hooker”
» “Born This Way”
» “Bloody Mary”
» “Bad Romance”
» “Fashion of His Love”
» “The Queen”
» “Just Dance”
» “Love Game”
» “Telephone”
» “Just Dance”
» “Heavy Metal Lover”
» “Bad Kids”
» “Hair”
» “Yoü and I”
» “Electric Chapel”
» “Americano”
» “Poker Face”
» “Scheiße”
» “The Edge of Glory”
» “Marry the Night”

Sacha Baron Cohen?s ?The Dictator? has invaded theaters, featuring His Excellency, the incomparable Admiral General Aladeen, in his feature film debut.

But the beloved Admiral General is far from the only despot to reign over the big screen throughout the years, so as a celebration of this momentous occasion in his glorious reign, we thought it might be instructive (not to mention entertaining) to take a look a back at some of filmdom?s other most feared (or mocked) tyrants.

Pharaoh Rameses II
A heavyweight among our lineup of autocrats, Rameses II has roots that are not just historical, but biblical to boot. But it was the screen presence of Yul Brynner that brought him to life in modern times, as the vindictive and arrogant Pharaoh in 1956?s “The Ten Commandments,” who just doesn?t know when to quit, even after Moses (Charlton Heston) tells him to ?Let my people go!?

Doctor Evil
Now, granted, the esteemed Doctor Evil doesn?t actually have a nation or throngs of subjects to rule over. But he does have a doctorate from Evil Medical School, absolute control over a global megacorporation, a passel of fearful lackeys eager to obey his every whim (or else get dropped into a pit of fire), and he?s come pretty close to conquering the world on a few occasions, throughout the “Austin Powers” film series. Combine all that with a management style that competes with some of the worst bosses in history, and you?ve got the makings of a tyrant that moviegoers won?t soon forget.

Big Brother
Big Brother. A phrase so iconic, it?s made it into our lexicon, not just as the name of a reality show, but as a synonym for absolute control over our daily lives. So who better to appear on a list of film tyrants than the original Big Brother, from the film adaptation of George Orwell?s classic novel “1984″? The movie brings to life Orwell?s warnings about totalitarianism, and as portrayed in the film by actor Bob Flag, Big Brother isn?t so much of a person, as an idea; you are being watched, and therefore you must obey.

Emperor Palpatine
Sometimes a tyrant doesn?t just prove their bonafides through their harsh rule, but by the means they came to power. Certainly that?s the case in the films of the Star Wars Universe, where an ambitious Senator named Palpatine secretly used his powers as a Dark Lord of the Sith to subvert democracy, lure a young Anakin Skywalker to the dark side, exterminate his opponents, and set himself up as the Galactic Emperor. In the end, as tyrants tend to do, he meets a violent end, but not before cementing his place in movie history.

Adenoid Hynkel
Sacha Baron Cohen isn?t the first person to have taken a look at real world dictators and decided they need to be taken down a peg or two. 1940?s “The Great Dictator,” starring screen legend Charlie Chaplin (who also wrote and directed the film), mercilessly ridicules the pompous Adenoid Hynkel, a not-so subtle parody of the real-life dictator who at that very time posed a threat to the entire world. Although the world would eventually discover the full and horrific extent of that dictator?s ambitions, Chaplin?s gutsy move to take on one of the world?s most feared men proved that comedy can be one of the greatest weapons in the fight against those who rely on unquestioning obedience.

Who is your favorite film tyrant? Let us know what you think in the comments section below or hit us up on Twitter!

Firestarter: Sadie Hawkins

It’s no secret that rap has been a male-dominated sport, but you can’t forget the ladies. Of course, Nicki Minaj is the most recognizable, and Iggy Azalea and Azealia Banks are both making waves. Well, it’s time to add another name to that growing list of femme fatales: Sadie Hawkins.

If the name sounds familiar, Hawkins borrows her moniker from a 1930s comic-strip character. And, school children often attend Sadie Hawkins-themed dances, where traditional roles are reversed and the girls ask out the boys. The name is particularly fitting for an artist who rhymes with a ferocity typically associated with male rappers.

Sadie started out as a model, and during one of her photo shoots, an onlooker suggested she try her hand at music. “He was like, ‘Are you a rapper?’ And I was like, ‘Nah,’ ” she told Mixtape Daily. “He was like, ‘Yeah, you look like a boss chick. Your name should be ‘Sadie Hawkins.’ “ As a child, she always admired hip-hop’s top female spitters. “Growing up, some of the female MCs that I grew up on ? like Lil’ Kim, Foxy Brown, Salt-n-Pepa, MC Lyte, Missy, Eve ? seeing them out there, and they doing it, and they actually made it happen, it could give you [a feeling like] ‘Yeah, OK, I can do this too,’ ” she shared.

Sadie pays homage to the queens on “Microphone Checka,” a track on her DJ Scream-hosted, Angelina Jolie-inspired Girl, Interrupted mixtape. Hawkins spits over a 1980s-style instrumental while name-dropping some of her favorite back-in-the-day rappers.

On “Cocky,” the lyrical newcomer partners with Yo Gotti, proving that she can hold her own against one of the game’s most-respected MCs, and on “Ms. Money,” she delivers a catchy make-it-rain ode that’s ripe for radio.

Sadie Hawkins shows tons of promise: More than just a pretty face, the rookie spitter makes music to back it up.

“Friday Night Lights” has no flaws, save for one: the Landry Clarke murder subplot. The NBC football drama misfired horribly in its second season when it turned bumbling geek Landry into a killer of rapists, and even the show’s staunchest supporters can’t overlook the laughably bad storyline.

But here’s a Landry Clarke murder subplot-in-the-making we can all get behind: actor Jesse Plemons, the man behind the East Dillon Lions kicker, is joining another critically acclaimed television series, “Breaking Bad,” in a role that’s sure to get bloody before all’s said and done.

TV Line reports that Plemons is set to star in the final season of “Bad” as Todd, “a dependable, innocuous, working-class guy” who “may not be what he appears to be.” Popular theories peg Todd as an undercover agent of some kind who will work towards busting the case of Heisenberg and his addictive “blue stuff” wide open. If that’s true, and if Todd’s putting himself in the way of Walter White and his continued survival? well, we know how that’s going to end.

Plemons is enjoying a nice run for himself these days. Despite the recent cancellation of his NBC series “Bent,” the “FNL” alum has a starring role in this weekend’s summer blockbuster “Battleship,” reuniting him with another Dillon local, #33 himself, Tim Riggins ? better known to non-”FNL” nerds as Taylor Kitsch.

Tell us what you think of Plemons’ “Breaking Bad” casting in the comments section below or hit us up on Twitter!

While his likely opponent in the fall presidential contest, Mitt Romney, dug in his heels and doubled down on his opposition to same-sex marriage, President Obama continued to earn praise from the entertainment community for his historic support of gay marriage.? After hearing from stars including? Neil Patrick Harris, Ellen DeGeneres, “Modern Family” star Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Kim Kardashian on Wednesday, the list of well-wishers grew to include everyone from Lady Gaga to hip-hop impresario Russell Simmons, Alec Baldwin and political blogger Meghan McCain.

“Obama, congratulations on being the first sitting president to support marriage equality,” tweeted Gaga. “Feels like the future, and not the past. #NoFear.” Hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons simply said “thank you,” and singer Michelle Branch gave it a rousing, “YAY Obama!! #EqualityForAll.”

Frequent “Chelsea Lately” panelist and out comedian Ross Matthews could hardly contain his excitement, writing, “OMG, it’s official! Obama becomes 1st president to support gay marriage!!! Historic day!” Meanwhile, another out TV personality, Bravo boss and talk show host Andy Cohen, shouted, “THANK YOU MR. PRESIDENT.”

Singer Ricky Martin offered his props as well, saying, “I applaud President @barackobama for affirming that ALL Americans should enjoy equal rights. Historic!”

CNN talker Piers Morgan called it, “One small step for him … one giant leap for mankind,” while comedian/actress Sandra Bernhard offered up the poetic bon mot, “Viva Obama who has just endorsed gay marriage. Right on time drop a dime blow your mind.”

“It Gets Better” founder and “Savage Love” columnist Dan Savage urged action on the back of Obama’s announcement, saying, “Gay people better get out there and support the president. If he loses in November, we’ll be blamed.”

“30 Rock” star Alec Baldwin kept is brief with, “Obama gets it right on gay marriage. Bravo,” out blogger Perez Hilton dubbed the announcement, “better late than never” and singer Josh Groban said it was just “historic.”

Twitter master comedian Patton Oswalt took the opportunity to have fun with the Obama news in a series of tweets about his upcoming (fake) gay marriage. “Oh my God — Seal Team Six just broke down my front door and are forcing me to marry @stephenfry! DAMN YOU, OBAMA!!!!!!” That was followed by some more good news in the form of, “Well, I’m now married to @stephenfry. Ceremony was charming, but watching Seal Team Six fight over the bouquet was f—ing INTENSE.” Funnyman Michael Ian Black was in a joking mood as well, taunting, “Hey Obama, if you love gay marriage so much, why don’t you marry it?”

And in keeping with her maverick streak (not to be confused with her dad’s), political blogger Meghan McCain opined, “Even though he did it a little late under political pressure — very happy to hear the President came out in support of gay marriage.” What do you think of President Obama’s support of gay marriage?
